In 2015, while Mr Christian RHUGWASANYE was decorating festive halls in his hometown of Bukavu (the capital of South Kivu province in eastern DR Congo), he saw an increasing number of children living in poverty asking for food at the doors of the festive halls.
Shoeless, with torn clothes and faces full of sadness, they were orphans, including former child soldiers.
Born and raised in the east of his country in the face of insecurity and war, he decided to help these children so that they would not have to experience the same difficult situations that he had as a child. So, he decided to enroll them in school by providing them with psychological
support while ensuring their reintegration into society.
The foundation has increased its field of action, providing food, clothing, healthcare, and accommodation to children affected by armed conflict in eastern DR Congo.
In 2016, it was legalized and officially recognized as a non-profit association by the DR Congo government.
